coco peat…Coco disc..Grow Bags..Coco plugs

Using local dirt available in the market has always been a challenge for me. Gardening is a messy affair for someone like me coz  I do spill a lot of soil around while am at it. One can assume the after work involved in cleaning the floor and hands off dirt.

One of the things coco peat does is to help us escape the mess while you are gardening, its not messy, doesn’t stick to your hand or dirt the floor.

It is compact – you can fill a 12 inch container with 6 coco peat disc of 10cms each.

It retains a lot of water.  So no need to water every day.

Its easier to store at ones place. It’s dry and compact in nature. Just need to keep it away from moisture. I have over 200 coco discs and some grow bags at my place.

4 Coco Disc of 10cms each can easily fill a pot of size 10

1 liter water added, coco disc absorbs all the water and swells.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

another liter and half water added to the pot. The pot is filled with coco peat.Keep it in sun for a day and its ready to use.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Similar is the case with grow bags. They are compact and cost effective.

Plain grow bag a little taller when you open it

Grow bag with NPK added. can be used to grow leafy vegetables and herbs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is how the grow bag looks inside. Just need to add water, let it settle down for a day then add manure and its ready.

Rooting Plugs/ Coco Plugs/Jiffy Plugs.

Rooting Plugs are an excellent way of Seed starting. It’s easy to transplant, once they have true leafs.

Coco plugs that I was using to propagate Jade Plant from Jade Leaf. Failure!!! I had successfully used plugs to grow chilly plants.

It’s a fascinating world of coco products. I have loads of coco disc and some  grow bags stocked. One thing about coco peat, you need to add 1 part manure every time you use them to grow plants and adding nutrients once a month won’t do any harm.
